It's your birthday - BH&G kidsŪ - ideas for children's birthday parties - Brief Article

Author: Better Homes & Gardens

Everyone loves friendly little ladybugs. The French adore them so much that they call them les betes du bon Dieu, or creatures of the good God. So it comes as no surprise that hearts flutter over a pretty-in-pink "Ladybug Bash." This birthday party will have everyone seeing spots--polka dots adorn everything from the cups to the cupcakes. It's a party no fan of beetles (the bugs, not the band) would miss.

More adventurous tykes may want to take a trip to another universe with an "Out of This World Party." Three ... two ... one ... blast off! The countdown begins as soon as space-age invitations are mailed. When the "astronauts" arrive, they will flip over the cosmic atmosphere. Where else can you promise your friends the sun, the moon, and the stars? "Houston, we have a party."

Or have a ladybug bash.

LEGGY HAT Cut a 6-inch circle from pink felt and a 3-inch circle from black felt. Overlap the pieces and punch two holes for antennae. Wrap the ends of two chenille stems around a child's headband and push a stern through each hole in the felt. Curl the ends. Glue on eyeballs and sequin spots. Glue sheer fabric wings to the body. Punch three holes on each side of the body. Push yarn through each hole and knot in place. Glue pom-poms to the legs.

PARTY FAVOR Put candy and toys in a gift bag. Fold over the edge and punch two holes. Thread a ribbon through and tie in a bow. Add black circle labels. Cut a leaf from green paper and glue to bag.
